2014 Yearbook of Immigration Statistics: Naturalizations

Dhs

Jennifer Koh posted a link to the 2014 Yearbook of Immigration Statistics, which was recently released by the Department of Homeland Security.  I have been posting on various statistics and have highlighted data in the Yearbook that I find interesting.   So far, I have offered some data and thoughts on removals, lawful immigrants, refugees, and asylum.

Naturalizations  over the last few years have been between 600,000 and 800,000 a year.

Persons Naturalized (p. 53, Table 21)

2010    619,913

2011    694,193

2012    757,434

2013    779,929

2014    653,416

In 2014, Asia (233,163) and North America (222,547)  by far had many more naturalizations than Africa, Europe, and South America, all which were in the 60-70,000 range.

In 2014, the top countries or origin for newly naturalized U.S. citizens were Mexico (94,889), India (37,854), the Philippines (34,591 China (30,284), and Cuba (24,092).
