KCRW Interviews Lawyer/Activist Lizbeth Mateo

Robert Scheer is the host of KCRW‘s Sheer Intelligence radio program. On Friday, Scheer interviewed immigration lawyer/activist Lizbeth Mateo.

In the interview, Mateo discusses her role as a DREAMer activist, including her decision to “self-deport” in 2013 as part of the Bring Them Home Campaign. She talks about her ongoing struggle to obtain DACA relief, her dissatisfaction with detaining migrant children, Obama’s record deportations, and the current election cycle. At one point, she notes:

…the Republican Party is going to continue having that image of those who just stood there while allowing Trump to say all kinds of awful things about immigrants, about women, so I think that it is permanent. Our communities will remember.
