Federal Judge Grants TRO, Halts Trump’s Travel Ban Nationwide; White House to Appeal
CNN reports that President Trump is preparing to appeal a temporary restraining order entered by a federal court in Washington that halted enforcement of the Executive Order’s travel ban nationwide.
Federal District Judge James Robart, appointed by President George W. Bush, entered the temporary restraining order yesterday. U.S. Customs and Border Protection next alerted airlines that the U.S. government would begin reinstating visas had been cancelled under the order. CBP advised airlines that refugees that are in possession of US visas will be admitted as well.

Amended. Complaint — The plaintiffs are the states of Washington and Minnesota. The complaint includes claims based on equal protection, establishment clause of the First Amendment, procedural due process, Immigration and Nationality Act, Administrative Procedure Act, and the Tenth Amendment.

UPDATE (Feb. 5): The Ninth Circuit, which denied the U.S. government’s request for an emergency stay of the TRO, has a website for this case, which includes a video of the oral argument before federal district court judge James Robart.
