Fair Treatment Denied: The Trump Administration’s Troubling Attempt to Expand “Fast-Track” Deportations

Today, the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) released Fair Treatment Denied: The Trump Administration’s Troubling Attempt to Expand “Fast-Track” Deportations which estimates the current and future undocumented population that could be affected by the different potential potential expansions of expedited removal

Expedited removal allows the federal government to deport an individual on an expedited basis outside of the immigration court system. On January 25, 2017, President Trump issued Executive Order 13767, Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvements, which directed DHS and its sub-components to expand the use of expedited removal. ILRC’s report provides estimates of the affected population under different potential expansions.
