US deportations of Europeans are up
Despite the spectacular news flashes President Trump and the Russian government, the operations of the U.S. government continue to move forward. As readers of this blog well know, the new administration has made immigration enforcement a high priority. Many observers probably assumed that only Asian, Latino, and Muslim immigrants would be affected by the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement measures. Not so. In a story titled “US deportations of Europeans could exceed last fiscal year, ” Associated Press reporter Philip Marcelo writes that “From Oct. 2, 2016 through June 24, more than 1,300 Europeans have been removed, compared with 1,450 during all of federal fiscal year 2016 – the last under President Barack Obama.”
