Deliberate Drowning of Migrants in Yemen

Two separate sets of migrants have been “deliberately drowned” off the coast of Yemen by their smugglers, the BBC reports. The migrants are thought to be largely young people, teenagers, from Somalia and Ethiopia. The death toll isn’t yet known.

Such conduct may be part of a disturbing “new trend,” said a spokeswoman for the International Organisation of Migration (IOM).
