Mental Health Woes of the Undocumented
Karla Cornejo Villavicencio, a DACA recipient and graduate student at Yale, has a stunning opinion piece in the NYT today. “Undocumented life in America is hard on the mind and body,” she writes. Those in the U.S. without status “accept chronic exhaustion, low self-esteem, fear and panic, low moods and fits of crying as normal for the melancholic migrant struggling to subsist without being arrested.”
It’s an emotional and revelatory article.
