Immprof Fatma Marouf Sues for Right to Foster Refugee Child

Bryn-fatma1

Immprof Fatma Marouf (TAMU) and her wife, Bryn Esplin, have brought suit against Catholic Charities of Fort Worth. Fatma and Bryn wanted to become foster parents to a refugee child. Catholic Charities finds foster families for refugee children but rejected their application because they are a same-sex couple. They were told that foster parents must “mirror the holy family.”

Lamba Legal is representing the couple. You can learn more about the suit here.

I can’t help reacting to this personally. I’m Catholic. And I know Fatma. And I cannot imagine anyone not jumping at the chance to place a child in her care. She is so warm, caring, thoughtful, intelligent, and kind. Catholic Charities is an organization that has done so much good, but in this case they could use a little spit and mud (John 9:6-7) in order to see clearly the beautiful family before them, ready to change the life of a child forever.
