This is part one of our six part series on American Prohibition. Lets go back to a time before the colorful images of flappers, gangsters, jazz, and bootlegging which framed the roaring 20’s to a less colorful time when The Women’s Christian Temperance Union brought about the Volstead Act, an amendment of the constitution which banned alcoholic or intoxicating beverages from 1920 to 1933. How did these women whom did not even have the right to vote at the time bring about sweeping change.
