Did May 2018 Reshape U.S. Immigration Law?
Catherine E. Shoichet for CNN considers May 2017 as a watershed in U.S. immigration law. During the month, the Trump administration played hardball with the “caravan,” fully embraced a family separation policy in the US/Mexico border region, and continued war on MS-13. As she puts it,
“When people look back at the US immigration debate, they might point to May 2018 as a turning point — a month when policies became reality, when words once whispered in private became words shouted in public, when life for immigrant families crossing the border became visibly worse.”
