CNN: Letters from Mothers Separated from Their Children by Immigration Authorities
Tal Kopan at CNN reports on letters written by mothers separated from (and later reunited with) their children earlier this year. The letters were collected by the Dilley Pro Bono Project and written by mothers who continued to be detained with their children. They speak of being told that their children would be given up for adoption, or of missing a daughter’s first period. The writings are a testament to the severe emotional and psychological harm caused by the family separation and detention policies.
