The Bracelet You’ll Want

Ugh. I don’t know that I can wait until the next appropriate gift giving occasion. I may have to buy this $40 Embracelet now.

Check it out: The outside half of the bracelet is made from life vests discarded by refugees arriving on the island of Lesbos in Greece. The vests are shipped to the Netherlands and cut into bracelets by “refugees who are reintegrating into the labor market.” The inside of the bracelet is leather and stamped with the phrase “building humanity.”

If that doesn’t entice you, here are some further details that just might: 50% of the company’s profits go directly to “refugees in communities across America to help with education and language learning.”

The company’s founder is Mohamad Malim, a Somali-American entrepreneur and former refugee.
