Why U.S. Visa Numbers Are Down
Restrictionists have criticized President Trump for his support for legal immigration. Perhaps they don’t have much to worry about. NPR reports that the number of U.S. visas issued are down despite President Trump’s recent embrace of legal immigration. NPR’s Lulu Garcia-Navarro asks Stuart Anderson of the National Foundation for American Policy why that is.
It also is noteworthy that President Trump has registered support for the RAISE Act, which would cut legal immigration by one-half and establish a “merit-based” points system for visas.
