Immigrant of the Day: Dr. Fiona Hill
Yesterday’s impeachment testimony by Dr. Fiona Hill was riveting. She is clearly a woman of deep thoughtfulness and intelligence. She’s also, quite obviously (that accent!) an immigrant.
Dr. Hill was born and raised in England. She came to the United States in 1988 to study at Harvard. She has lived here for more than three decades, “hav[ing] built a career as a nonpartisan, nonpolitical national security professional focusing on Europe and Eurasia and especially the former Soviet Union.”
She became a U.S. citizen through naturalization in 2002. As Dr. Hill told Congress, she is “an American by choice.”
