What Will Conservative Win in UK Mean for Immigration?
The focus of the recent UK elections was Brexit. And, as this chart shows, that issue remains top in the minds of voters.
But as the BBC explores in depth, there is a connection between Brexit and immigration given that “many who back Brexit hope it will lead to greater control of immigration.” Such voters may be mistaken. As the next chart shows, current migration to the UK is largely from non-EU countries. (And Brexit is only about the relationship between the UK and the EU.)

The Conservative party, having just secured a solid majority in the election, is now in a position to reform UK immigration law. Will they employ a points system? Will they seek to narrow legal migration? How will they address critical labor shortages? We’ll have to wait and see.
