Trump Administration Clamping Down on Iranians Seeking to Return to the US?

Tensions between the United States and Iran apparently are affecting persons of Iranian descent at the U.S. borders.

Politico reports that Iranians and Iranian-Americans are being detained for questioning upon entering the United States.  The Washington state chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relatio ns said yesterday that more than 60 people of Iranian descent, including U.S. citizens, were held for hours long periods of questioning over the weekend at the Peace Arch checkpoint in Blaine, Washington, along the border with Canada.

The initial reports highlight the potential risks before retaliation promised by the Iranian government for the killing of Qassem Soleimani, the leader of Iran’s elite paramilitary forces, by the United States last week.
