Happy Tax Day! And please do not forget the tax contributions of immigrants

It is April 15.  Although the U.S. government has extended the deadline for the filing of tax returns because of the pandemic, April 15 traditionally has been Tax Day.

A few years ago, New American Economy released  a report on the tax contributions of immigrants.  Its conclusions remain true to this day:  “This Tax Day . . . acknowledge the important role that immigrants—both legal and undocumented—play as consumers, taxpayers, and net contributors to America’s social services.”

Importantly, contrary to popular belief, many undocumented immigrants pay taxes (and here).
