Perils of being a migrant worker in the pandemic

Migrant workers have a history of exploitation. As the pandemic continues, three stories about migrant workers have caught my eye. The first story is the plight of migrant workers in the re-infection of Singapore (and here), a country that has handled the coronavirus well other than for their workers living in dense dormitaries (picture below). The second story is similarly about mistreatment and neglect of migrant workers in the US through exclusions from stimulus funding and exposure as essential workers. The third story is the diminishing ability to send remittances to their home countries with job loss, threatening an increase in poverty from South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa to Eastern Europe and Latin America.
