John Oliver: Asylum

On his show Last Week Tonight, John Oliver tackled the issue of asylum. As Oliver notes: “The Trump Administration’s attack on asylum has been focused, dedicated, and deeply resourceful. … they’ve been truly disciplined about being truly evil.” He focuses on three particular attacks on asylum:

• Migrant Protection Protocols
• Safe Third Country Agreements
• Title 42 (shutting down the border due to the pandemic — expelling 197,371 asylum seekers from the U.S. or its border)
