Vice President Pence and Senator Harris Square Off in VP Debate
Last night, the one and only Vice President debate in the 2020 campaign was held. Two undisputed facts: (1) plexiglass separated the candidates; and (2) a fly landed — and remained for about two minutes — on the Vice President’s hair.
In the debate, Vice President Mike Pence and Senator Kamala Harris sparred on the Trump administration’s coronavirus response, racial justice, health care, the economy, the Supreme Court, the right to choose, and more. But, as in the Presidential debate last week, there were no questions on immigration. Of course, many good questions on the subject could have been asked, especially in light of President Trump’s immigration record.
The debate seemed rather staid compared to the debacle last week (which was something akin to a World Wrestling Entertainment match) between President Trump and former Vice President Biden. Senator Harris stood strong and directly attacked President Trump. Vice President Pence defended the Trump administration. Some questions were ducked and evaded. Some substantive responses could be heard.
Stay tuned for the second Trump/Biden debate on October 15 in Miami.
