Deported Vet Becomes a U.S. Citizen

Born in Belize, Roman Sabal, a deported United States Marine Corps veteran who was eligible to become a U.S. citizen but who was blocked by the U.S. government from entering the country to attend his citizenship interview. It was a maddening catch-22 and highlighted the dysfunction of the U.S. immigration system – even for those who have honorably served our country in uniform.

The good news is that Sgt. Sabal was sworn in as a U.S citizen! The swearing-in took place shortly after his citizenship interview in front of the El Paso Zoo, and comes after 25 years, three citizenship applications, and one lawsuit. Roman will finally be reunited with his family. Watch the video HERE.
