Abstract

This article discusses the 2020 amendment to the definition of a ‘public charge’ under the Immigration and Nationality Act, which renders non-citizens determined to be public charges inadmissible into the U.S. This change has led to disagreement amongst politicians, public confusion and has left U.S. immigration in a state of flux.
