NYT In-Depth Reporting on Family Separation

Caitlin Dickerson of the New York Times reports on Leticia Peren who was separated from her son by the Trump administration. Three years after the family was separated on coming to the U.S. to seek asylum, Ms. Peren been reunited with her son, but still struggles. This moving article, with a collection of photographs by Ryan Christopher Jones, document this mother-son journey. Dickerson writes: “Ms. Peren says she has come to understand that being reunited with her son did not restore the bonds they once shared. Instead, she said, they are different people in a new place, building a relationship that is, in some ways, just beginning.”
