Help is on the Way? Hope for Immigration Changes in a Biden Administration

Hopes are high among immigrant rights advocates as a new Biden administration promises change.  Voice of America reports that “President-elect Joe Biden is expected to swiftly reverse some of President Donald Trump’s most contentious immigration policies when he takes office.  VOA immigration reporter Aline Barros looks at Biden’s plan to act on policies affecting refugees, asylum seekers, and DACA recipients.”

The challenges to change are formidable, with the immigration court system overloaded and understaffed, mass immigration detention under attack, and Congress long stalemated when it comes to immigration reform.  Legal as well as undocumented immigration need attention.  President-elect Biden has tied to dampen expectations on the immediate changes to  immigration.
