U.S. District Court in Texas Pauses Biden’s 100-day Deportation Ban
As we posted earlier on immigrationprof, on Friday the Texas Attorney General filed a lawsuit in federal court opposing President Biden’s 100-day pause on deportations. This 100-day pause was set forth in a January 20, 2021 DHS memo calling for a time to “enable focusing the Department’s resources where they are most needed.” Today, U.S. District Court Judge Drew Tipton granted a temporary restraining order temporarily halting the DHS freeze on deportations. Judge Tipton, who was appointed by President Trump last year, issued the TRO “on a nationwide basis.”
