New Policy Brief by the American Immigration Lawyers Association on Reforming the Immigration Courts

On February 12, 2021, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) issued an important new policy brief titled Why President Biden Needs to Make Immediate Changes to Rehabilitate the Immigration Courts. The brief provides an overview of the numerous changes made to the immigration courts by the Trump administration. It includes a very helpful appendix listing the specific policies, regulations, and AG decisions that have been passed over the past four years. As the brief explains, these radical changes have “fundamentally compromised the integrity of the immigration courts and their ability to ensure fairness and impartiality in immigration cases.”  The policy brief then summarizes necessary reforms that President Biden should prioritize in order to restore the courts as impartial and fair.
