Surge of Anti-Asian Violence in the Pandemic

NPR reports on a surge of anti-Asian violence.  With the onslaught of the pandemic, harassment and violence against Asian Americans has grown. The racist language former President Donald Trump used to describe the pandemic’s origins in China did not help. There now there appears to be a growing number of attacks against elderly Asian Americans. At least one person has died from their injuries. Bettina Makalintal wrote about these events for VICE, was interviewed by NPR in this segment.

The Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) this week released a report A Rising Tide of Hate and Violence against Asian Americans in New York During COVID-19: Impact, Causes, Solutions, co-authored with the Paul Weiss law firm, detailing the rise of anti-Asian violence in New York City.
