Citizenship tests required in K-12 schools
The citizenship test has become one of the latest fronts of the culture war, with extensive rewriting of the exam to include more complicated and right-leaning questions during the Trump administration reversed during the Obama administration.
According to the New York TImes, this month, Arizona became the first state to pass a law requiring its high school students to pass the citizenship exam. Students must answer 60 of 100 questions correctly to receive a diploma, which matches the 6 of 10 questions that immigrants must pass to obtain citizenship. A dozen states are considering a similar requirement including: North Dakota, Indiana, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Utah, and Virginia.
