Is There Something Rotten in Denmark? Denmark starts impeachment trial of ex-immigration minister
The Associated Press reports on an interesting story. Remember President Trump’s family separation policy, which generated a firestorm of controversy and was abruptly dismantled. Well, Denmark apparently adopted a similar policy.
AP reports that Denmark’s Court of Impeachment will try the Danish government’s former immigration minister over a 2016 order to separate asylum-seeking couples when one of the pair was a minor.
Inger Stoejberg, “integration” minister from 2015 to 2019, appeared before the court, which according to AP, “was convening for the first time in 26 years.” Denmark’s parliament voted to try Stoejberg after a commission found that separating couples in asylum centers was “clearly illegal” and that she had been warned that the practice was unlawful.
