At the Movies: Blue Bayou (2021)
The new film Blue Bayou may be interesting to ImmigrationProf readers. IMDb describes the film as follows: “As a Korean-American man raised in the Louisiana bayou works hard to make a life for his family, he must confront the ghosts of his past as he discovers that he could be deported from the only country he has ever called home.”
In Deadline, director Justin Chon said that he wanted the film to generate conversation and awareness around the realities of immigration in the United States. “I thought it was so cruel and just unfathomable that you can bring a child from another country and then tell them at some point later in their life that they’re not welcome in the place they call home.” “That’s why I think this film was important for me to tell. this is always the best way – on the big screen – to build empathy.”
