June 2022: Immigrant Heritage Month

“proclaim[ed] June 2022 as National Immigrant Heritage Month. I call upon the people of the United States to learn more about the history of our Nation’s diverse and varied immigrant communities and to observe this month with appropriate programming and activities that remind us of the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
In California, Governor Gavin Newsom also declared June to be Immigrant Heritage Month.
As stated by the American Immigration Council, “given the shrill and often negative rhetoric we hear around immigration, it seems more important than ever to take time to appreciate our immigration history and what newcomers bring to our nation and our lives.”
