Mother Jones: First Roe, Then Plyler? The GOP’s 40-Year Fight to Keep Undocumented Kids Out of Public School

Check out Isabela Dias’s article in Mother Jones on the Supreme Court’s 1982 5-4 decision in Plyler v. Challenges to the decision continue to this day, with Texas Governor Greg Abbott the latest to question the decision.

In the Mother Jones article First Roe, Then Plyler? The GOP’s 40-Year Fight to Keep Undocumented Kids Out of Public School, Isabela Dias describes the litigation, its history, and its current vulnerability should the Supreme Court revisit the case.

For more on the history of Plyler, see the book by the late Michael Olivas, No Undocumented Child Left Behind: Plyler v. Doe and the Education of Undocumented Schoolchildren (2012).
