The Power of Gisele Fetterman’s Immigration Story
Gisele Fetterman is the wife of John Fetterman — you know, that guy who just won the open senate seat in Pennsylvania in an epic smack down of Dr. Oz. She played a big role in that win, serving as a surrogate for her husband while he was recovering from a stroke.
Anyhoo, Gisele tweeted this out today:
Pennsylvania, the spouse of your new senator is a formerly undocumented immigrant. ❤️ Thank you.

You read that right. Gisele used to be undocumented. Her mom brought her and her brother to the US when they were young. Gisele was only seven. Ultimately, Gisele received her green card in 2004, and she became a United States citizen in 2009.
Her immigration story has influenced her husband’s position on immigration. John Fetterman outlined his stance on immigration for voters, writing: “I fundamentally believe immigration is what makes America, America.” He notes that he “would not have [his] family if it weren’t for immigration.”
