New Member of Congress: A Daughter of Guatemalan Immigrants, Husband a DACA Recipient
Only in America! Here is a good story to start the new year.
The daughter of working class Guatemalan immigrants with a husband who is a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient, Delia Ramirez (and here) will soon be seated as a member of Congress.
Ramirez’s mother was pregnant with her when she crossed the U.S./Mexico border, a detail Ramirez included in her candidate bio on her campaign website, which notes that her mother worked “multiple low-wage jobs to give her children a fighting chance to escape poverty.”
