DHS Hires Law Firm For Possible Impeachment Inquiry

Although it seems like a wasteful endeavor to me, the impeachment of the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security continues to be in the news.  Democrats are preparing for a Republican attack.  

 James Arkin for Law360 reports that DHS has tapped the law firm of Debevoise & Plimpton for legal services related to a possible impeachment inquiry against Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.  House Republicans have already introduced resolutions to impeach Mayorkas. 

Both the House Judiciary Committee and the House Oversight Committee have already held hearings on immigration and the border.  Republican leaders repeatedly claim that the Biden administration has embraced “open borders” and that the borders are not being enforced.
