LA Times Story Features Asylum Seeker Wrongfully Deported to the Country He Fled

Yesterday the Los Angeles Times ran this detailed feature telling the story of Mr. A (pseudonym), a young Afghan refugee who ICE wrongfully deported to Kabul in January.  The next month, he was flown back to the United States, an acknowledgement that his deportation was an error, in violation of a stay issued by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. A’s lawyer, Tania Linares Garcia of the National Immigrant Justice Center is quoted in the article.

According to the Times, ICE has kept not records of how many individuals are wrongfully deported each year.
