Ivana Trump’s Immigration Records Stumped the FBI
The first batch of documents on Trump were released earlier this year following a Freedom of Information Act request in the wake of Ivana Trump’s death. Those documents showed that the FBI opened a “preliminary inquiry” on Trump’s immigration status in 1989 due to her ties to Czechoslovakia, then a Communist country.
The new documents disclose alleged discrepancies in her immigration file that puzzled the FBI. One 1989 document said that Trump’s Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) file was “fraught with inconsistencies regarding dates of residence, schooling and employments.”
The story offers interesting insights into the immigration stories of the rich and famous, which differ from the stories of migrants often in the news.
