At the end of last week, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the implementation of new family reunification parole (FRP) processes for Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, advancing the Administration’s expanded lawful pathways for migration and strengthened enforcement to reduce irregular migration. The FRP processes are part of the measures announced in April by DHS and the Department of State.

As CBS News summarizes the plan,

“The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) initiative, which will formally start on July 10, will allow eligible migrants from Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to fly to the U.S. and gain government work permits if they have relatives who are U.S. citizens or legal residents and have filed visa applications on their behalf.”
