Pro bono efforts of big firms to help immigrants have been in the news.  Here are a couple of stories on this muchneeded work from Law360.

This story reports on attorneys at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP who are helping Afghan refugees who have resettled in the San Diego area to obtain asylum.

Law360 also reports on Big Law attorneys taking on asylum cases for LGBTQ immigrants in truly life-or-death cases.  Many of the asylum seekers face persecution, criminalization and even death as a result of their sexual orientation and gender identity in their home countries.
