The future? Climate change is pushing young people in Honduras to leave farming and migration
NPR reports that climate migration has arrived. Drought and erratic rainfall are undermining agriculture in Honduras, pushing young people to leave home in search of a more secure future. NPR’s journalists Joel Rose and Marisa Peñaloza talked with Honduran families in rural towns and villages who shared their stories on Morning Edition. Listen to the first part of the series here.
The series is part of NPR’s commitment to covering the causes and effects of climate change and migration. All Things Considered had a project examining the connections between climate migration and the far-right. The in-depth visual narrative of the Senegal/Spain climate journey has been named a finalist in this year’s Online Journalism Awards.
