White Paper | A Chance To Come Home

The National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) has initiated a campaign called “Chance to Come Home,” calling for a meaningful process for return for the unjustly deported. The campaign received coverage in the Washington Post when Howard Bailey, a Jamaican immigrant and U.S. army veteran, finally became a U.S. citizen, after a decade of exile. He had been deported based on a drug conviction many years ago (for which he was pardoned by the governor of Virginia). Mother Jones did a long piece as well.
Here is the Executive Summary of the white paper by the National Immigrant Justice Center on wrongful deportation.
Thanks to my colleague Shayak Sarkar for the tip about the NIJC campaign..
