Hello and greetings from the Education Justice Project at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign!
We’re happy to share with you the new, now national edition of A New Path: A Guide to the Challenges and Opportunities After Deportation. Hard copies are now available. Request your free copy here.
This updated edition includes new content on:
Living with the threat of deportation
Know your rights
Planning for possible deportation
Getting legal help
…as well as expanded chapters on deportation to Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.
We oppose the deportation of anyone. Unfortunately, the fact is many people, especially those with records in the US, will unfortunately face deportation. We want them to be empowered every step of the way, from knowing their rights to fighting their removal, to what to expect with detention and deportation, should it come to that.
As a college-in-prison program many of our alumni have been deported to Mexico after their incarceration and it is our goal to connect people to resources in their countries of origin that allow them to be safe and successful upon their reentry.
A New Path: A Guide to the Challenges and Opportunities After Deportation is also available in Spanish.
