NYC Mayor Eric Adams Claims of a Migrant “Crisis”: Would Earlier Work Authorization for Asylum Applicants Help?

This thoughtful article by Cory Smith offers to New York City Mayor Eric Adams unfortunate declaration of a “migrant crisis” and that migrants will “destroy” the NYC as we know it.  One possible step that might reduce the economic pressures — work authorization for asylum seekers (which currently can be granted only after six months of filing an asylum application).  How can we expect asylum seers from modest backgrounds to not work for six months?
