Project Rousseau’s Thanksgiving Pumpkin Project

Project Rousseau is a NYC nonprofit that is providing “full-scope, comprehensive immigration services” to migrants in the city, among other projects. On Saturday, Project Rousseau hosted an event at a Wagner Middle School in NYC where migrants baked pumpkin pies for distribution to local homeless shelters.

CNN’s coverage of the pumpkin event is worth reading. There are beautiful pictures of adults and kids baking pies. These picturesque moments juxtapose with the text of the piece. The news outlet shares various migration stories–the dangers overcome on their journeys to the United States and the precarity of their current immigration status.
