Justice Department says new Texas immigration law violates Constitution
JUST IN — The Biden administration has warned Texas that it will sue the state if it enforces SB4, a law signed by Gov. Abbott that would allow state officials to arrest, jail and prosecute migrants on illegal entry criminal charges, according to a letter obtained by CBS News. pic.twitter.com/OolQGjn63t

CNN reports that a new Texas law (SB 4) that gives local law enforcement the authority to arrest migrants “violates the US Constitution,” the Department of Justice said in a letter to Governor Greg Abbott that became public yesterday.
Earlier this month, Governor Abbott signed Senate Bill 4 into law. The law is slated to take effect in March.
Principal deputy assistant attorney general Brian Boynton in his letter said that “the United States intends to file suit to enjoin the enforcement of SB 4 unless Texas agrees to refrain from enforcing the law.” While the federal government is “committed to … securing the border,” Boynton wrote, the Texas law is “contrary to these goals.”
Governor Abbott slammed the Justice Department’s letter.
The Biden Admin. not only refuses to enforce current U.S. immigration laws, they now want to stop Texas from enforcing laws against illegal immigration.
I’ve never seen such hostility to the rule of law in America.
Biden is destroying America.
Texas is trying to save it. https://t.co/CrvkBaiH8E
