U.S. Congress Recesses for the Holidays Without an Immigration Compromise
Congress needs to act NOW! Our international rail bridge in Maverick was closed, we have 100% commercial truck inspections and we are losing billions in trade!! Both parties need to compromise and fix this, the nation is fed up!! We need immigration and asylum reform! pic.twitter.com/LY1Beahl6g

The latest “border :surge” has been in the national news. Although conservatives blame the Biden administration, many factors are contributing to the latest movement of people, including political and other instability in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. as well as around the world.
Janet Murguia of UnitdosUS wroite for The Hill “as part of the funding package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, the Biden administration is considering, among other troubling proposals, expanding the use of expedited removal — the government authority to swiftly deport immigrants without hearings — from anywhere in the nation. . . . To be clear, expedited removal is a policy that goes far beyond the border and would target the civil rights of the nation’s 62 million Latinos and disrupt and undermine the nation’s economy and social fabric.”
Congress has been slow to address the nation’s various immigration issues. It thus is not surprising that Congress recessed for the holidays without reaching a compromise on border enforcement and U.S. aid to Israel and Ukraine.
