UC Regents Change Course on Hiring Undocumented Students
BREAKING NEWS
The University of California Regents voted on Thursday to keep in place a ban on hiring of undocumented students for another year, until January 2025.
The position changes course from the UC Regents’ decision to move forward exploring the possibility in May, with the urging of immigration law professors and legal experts from the immprof community and student activists in the. As reported in Politico, the official reasons cited were the legal risks, despite a contrary legal analysis supporting the policy from UCLA Center for Immigration Law and Policy co-directors Hiroshi Motomura and Ahilan Arulunantham and signed by 30 others. The actual reasons seem to be politics.
