Expanding California’s Law to Increase Protections For Temporary Guest Workers Benefits Businesses by Stephanie Richard & Suzanne La Pierre, Business and Human Rights Journal
Abstract
This article surveys the abuses riddling the current non-immigrant visa program resulting from the actions of unscrupulous foreign labor recruiters (FLRs) and the model law California passed to regulate their conduct. The business community should readily embrace the law and support its expansion to include all temporary visa categories, recognizing that it is in its best interests to eliminate the unfair competitive advantage and potential legal liability occasioned by these abusive actors.
