Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Happy #StPatricksDay! In June 1963, JFK spent 4 days in Ireland. A descendant of Irish immigrants, he was welcomed warmly throughout his travels in the country, and met some of his relatives in the Kennedy family homestead. pic.twitter.com/7jRSl02EkN

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, a celebration of the Irish in America. Here are ten surprising facts on the day from TIME. A most surprising one to me:
“The first St. Patrick’s Day parade was held in the U.S. The first recorded parade on the Catholic Feast Day of St. Patrick was held on March 17, 1601, in a Spanish colony in modern-day St. Augustine, Florida. More than a century later, Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched in Boston in 1737 and in New York City in 1762.”
