Are More Undocumented Immigrants Living in the US Now? Here’s What the Numbers Say
|
The American Immigration Council in its Immigration Impact (“Are More Undocumented Immigrants Living in the US Now? Here’s What the Numbers Say“) reports that data from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security shows that, in 2022, about 11.0 million undocumented immigrants were living in the United States—a 4.6% increase from 2020 but a 5.2% drop from 11.6 million in 2010. The report from the Office of Homeland Security Statistics further showed a decline in the number of undocumented immigrants from Mexico since 2010, as well as an increase in the average age of undocumented immigrants. Nearly 80% of undocumented immigrants in 2022 had been in the country for more than a decade. |
